Obituary of Mary Rubiletz

In loving memory of Mary, who passed away peacefully, May 6, 2015 at the Kamsack Hospital. Mary was born August 20, 1920 on a farm in the Calder district, the oldest child of Nettie and Metro Wintonyk. The eldest of 6 children, she attended school in the Calder district as well as helped out on the farm. Mary met her husband John Rubiletz during the war years and married him on November 22, 1942. She lived in Regina and Vernon while John was in the services. After the war they came back to the Calder district and farmed until 1949, when they moved to Yorkton. John and Mary were blessed with 2 children, Iris (1947) and Grace (1952). Mary was active in the UCWL club and was crowned Queen in 1960. She enjoyed company and cooking for family and friends. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting afghans, baking, playing cards and bingo. She had an amazing talent for cake decorating and making flowers. She did this for thousands of people, making their weddings and other occasions memorable. Mary lived in the house that they built in 1952 until 2014, when circumstances forced her to spend the rest of her days in the Kamsack Nursing Home. She enjoyed living there until her passing. We will miss this special lady, but we know she is at peace now. Mary was predeceased by her husband John, her parents Nettie and Metro Wintonyk, her brothers Mike and Edward, and sister's Katie and Annie. She is fondly remembered and will be missed dearly by her daughter Iris Simpson, grandson, Don Simpson (Kelly) and) great grandson Albert, granddaughter Karen Peterson (Dave); daughter Grace Chisholm (Bill), grandson Clay Chisholm (Lynn), and great grandsons Travis and Curtis, grandson Ryan Chisholm; brother Walter Wintonyk (Mary) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
