Obituary of Anne Gamracy

GAMRACY - Mrs. Anne Gamracy of Yorkton, wife of the Late Harry Gamracy passed away on April 13, 2015. She was 86 years of age. Born on January 27, 1929 in Goodeve Saskatchewan, Anne was the daughter of Mike Burak and Mary (nee Konopackski). She was raised in Plainview and Goodeve. In 1946, Anne married Harry Gamracy in Winnipeg. A few years later they moved to Yorkton to raise their family. Later she started working in the kitchen at the Yorkton Hospital. She moved to Central Supply and worked for many years at hospitals in Yorkton, Regina and North Battleford. Anne was kind, generous and a very good listener. She loved cooking for family and friends and made beautiful quilts for everyone she knew. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and playing cards especially canasta. When Harry and Anne retired they travelled all across Canada to visit family and took winter trips to Cuba, Hawaii, Mexico and Alaska. Anne is survived by her children, David (Jackie) and son Cody (Tami) and children Brianna, Kyra and Avery; Elaine (Bruce) children Jesse and Christie (Shawn) and son Jace; Janice (Terry) children Jennifer and Michael; Rod (Shelda) children Dustin and Amy (Marty) children Carson, Kennady, Alera & Ella and Rick (Jennifer). Besides her parents Anne was predeceased by her husband Harry in 2004, their son Ron in 1966, granddaughter Elizabeth and brothers Bill, Matt, Nick and Henry and her sister Nellie. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Shelda Gamracy and Amy Sveinbjornson officiating. A Musical Tribute was given by Guitarist, Cody Gamracy. A Tribute (from Grandchildren) was given by Christie Hillis and a Tribute (from the children) was given by Elaine Brown and Janice Yaholnitsky. Serving as Honourary Bearers were Jesse Brown, Cody Gamracy, Christie Hillis, Jennifer Yaholnitsky, Amy Sveinbjornson, Michael Yaholnitsky and Dustin Gamracy. The interment took place in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with David Gamracy serving as the Urn Bearer. Thank you to the kind and caring staff of ICU and Palliative Care at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. Memorials honouring Anne's life may be made to the Palliative Care Program at Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
