Obituary of Nettie Pryhitka

Nettie Pryhitka was born on September 12, 1936 in the Birmingham district of Saskatchewan. A daughter to Nick and Katie (nee Pillipow) Stelmacovich. Nettie received her education at Birmingham School and helped her parents on the family farm. On June 15, 1956 Nettie was united in marriage to Walter Pryhitka at St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Melville. The couple moved to Toronto, Ontario for a few years where their daughter Shirley was born. In 1960 the couple moved to Nettie's homestead and took over her parent's farm. While on the farm the couple had two sons Shawn and Sheldon to complete their family. Nettie took an active part in the farming operation. In 1996 Nettie and Walter retired from the farm and moved into Melville. Water passed away in 1999 and Nettie continued to reside in her own home until her health failed. Nettie entered her eternal rest on Friday, March 27, 2015 with her family at her side at the age of 78 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards with friends and neighbors, crocheting, socializing, going to the lake and sports days, watching football and fastball, watching her grandchildren in Ukrainian dancing, hockey and volleyball. Her most enjoyment was having her children and grandchildren come to visit. Nettie was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Predeceased by her parents, Nick and Katie; brothers, Bill, Mike, Russel, Peter; sisters, Mary Derkach, Nellie Kowalow and Annie Andrusyk; sisters-in-law, Rose Stelmacovich. Nettie leaves to cherish her memory her children, Shirley (Stan) Sopel of Ituna; Shawn (Jocelyn) Pryhitka of Yorkton and Sheldon Pryhitka of Melville; grandchildren, Calvin (Arlene) Sopel and their children, Marissa, Paige, Keaton and Jorja; Twila (Tyler) Brezinski and their children, Karstyn and Brady; Clayton (Natasha) Sopel; Cheyenne, Kassidy, Ryland, Peyton Pryhitka; Brendan (friend Ashton Poier) and Tyler; sister-in-law, Ann Shlachetka as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
