Obituary of Linda Jane Streifel

STREIFEL - Linda Jane Streifel of Saskatoon and formerly of Grayson entered into eternal rest with loved ones at her side on March 25, 2015. Linda was born to Wendel and Bernice (Magerl) Streifel in Melville, Saskatchewan on October 12, 1963 and was raised on the family farm north of Grayson. She attended grades 1 to 9 at Grayson School and graduated high school from Melville Comprehensive School in 1981. She attended Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon and obtained a diploma in Recreation Technology which led her to employment in Banff and then Saskatoon. Following a career change, she was employed by Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Regina and Melfort. Her adventurous spirit led her to Red Deer, Alberta employed again in the recreation field. She returned to Saskatchewan and settled in Saskatoon where she was employed by the City of Saskatoon Leisure Services. Her community spirit led her to volunteer with many organizations at every location she lived. That same sense of adventure found her traveling to hot spots like Florida, Hawaii and Cuba and enjoyed nature while camping in various provinces. Country music was a favourite and she thoroughly enjoyed Craven Country Jamboree for many years. Linda was predeceased by her father Wendel on December 16, 2014 and her brother-in-law Dave Stecyk in April 2013. Linda leaves to cherish her memory: her mother Bernice of Melville and 6 siblings: sister Laura Stecyk and daughters Megan and Shelby; sister Louise (Richard) Bonick and children Crystal (Ryan) Tew and Ainsley, Chantel (Andrew) Fahlman and Maverick, and Whitney (Ryan) Kienas; brother Lorne (Ellen) Streifel and children, Nathan (Stephanie), Joel, Chad, Ariel, and Dustin; brother Lloyd (Tracy) Streifel and children, Chelsey (Ashton) Zunti, Jordan, and Kristen; brother Leroy (Ella Gagnon) Streifel and children, Matthew, and Jenna; sister Lisa (Terry) Rathgeber and children, Logan and Haley, as well as numerous relatives and friends. Prayer Services were held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Grayson with Rev. Fr. Thomas Mutavanattu presiding. The music for the prayers and funeral mass were by members of St. Mary's Choir. Hymns for the prayers were"Come Now Is The Time to Worship" and "Lead me Lord" and for the funeral mass were "Psalm 23", "Hear O Lord", "There Will Be Bread" and "Go In Peace". Chantel Fahlman and Jordan Streifel did the readings and Jenna Streifel did the Intercessions. The candle lighter was Dustin Streifel. Eulogists were Lisa Rathgeber and Lynette Gaetz. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Mieczyslaw Burdzy O.M.I. as the Celebrant. Readers were Whitney Kienas and Kristen Streifel and the intercessions were by Nathan Streifel. The gift bearers were Ariel Streifel and Haley Rathgeber and the Eucharistic Minister was Elsie Gelowitz. The cross bearer was Logan Rathgeber. Honorary bearers were Goddaughter Whitney Kienas, Godson Logan Rathgeber, Megan Stecyk, Shelby Stecyk, Crystal Tew, Chantel Fahlman, Nathan Streifel, Joel Streifel, Chad Streifel, Ariel Streifel, Dustin Streifel, Chelsey Zunti, Jordan Streifel, Kristen Streifel, Matthew Streifel, Jenna Streifel and Haley Rathgeber. The interment followed in the St. Mary's Parish Cemetery with Linda's siblings, Laura Stecyk, Louise Bonick, Lorne Streifel, Lloyd Streifel, Leroy Streifel and Lisa Rathgeber as the casket bearers. Arrangements were by Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville.
