Brother John will be dearly missed. He was a loving big brother to me and I will always be grateful for his insistence on me completing my high school education. He didn't quite make it to 100 years like he wanted to but came very close. He lived a full good life and will be remember by many. Love, Katherine Foster and family

Very touching and well-done Obit - I knew about the teaching, but not about the travels - thanks for sharing. Uncle John lived a full and amazing life - something to celebrate and keep as active memories for sure, going forward. You all are in my prayers and thoughts today. Love, Hugs, Deb xoxo

Dear Auntie Helen, cousins and cousins in law: Though we are not able to attend his service. we were there in our thoughts.. With the passing of Uncle John, a 'character' has left us. Many will have Uncle John stories, John stories, with memories that will stay will us forever. The obituary is a testament to his life and indeed, a life very well lived - well done.

Uncle John was a special uncle. I recall so many memories growing up and listening to his stories of his travels, his life, his hunting experiences and always enjoying them! A man with a real zest for life and lived it to the fullest. To Auntie Helen and family, our sincere condolences from Sandy, Gerry, Amber and Holly Westlake.

To the Hnatiuk family, it is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of John. May you find solace in the many memories you have of him and may they sustain you for your lifetime. God's blessings to your family and may you find support in your Creator during this most difficult and sad time. John was a lovely person with many fine qualities. As children, we recall his lovely voice as Cantor at St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Melville. May John's Savior reach out His arms and carry him to his eternal resting place and may he rest in peace. Nathan and Jan I recall you from the condo complex in Saskatoon and remember how you spoke so kind of your dear grandfather. May your memories of him help to support you as this time. In Christ and with His love, Shirley (Bartko) Gilbertson, Vancouver, B.C. and Russell Bartko, formerly of Saskatoon, now residing in Canora, Saskatchewan.

My condolences on the loss of your loved one. John was one of my high school teacher's at the Melville Comprehensive school. Always remember him as a kind and genuine man. I always had a good visit with him when our paths crossed in his retirement years. May he rest in peace.
