Obituary of Victoria Kantymir

KANTYMIR - Victoria Kantymir, resident of Malinowski House of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home passed away on February 16, 2015. Victoria Kantymir was born on the family farm at Gronlid, Saskatchewan on May 27, 1932; a daughter of Annie and Nick Chokan. She went to Taras school. In 1956 she married Fred Kantymir and from this union she had a daughter Lena. She later separated from Fred and then met her life partner, William Hiadachuk. From that union 2 daughters were born. Victoria Lived in Gronlid until William passed away. Victoria moved to Melfort in 1975, then later to Nipawin and then Tisdale. In 2000 she moved with her daughter to Yorkton where she resided with her daughter and grandkids until ill health forced her into nursing home care. She was predeceased by her common-law husband William Hiadachuk (1975); her first husband Fred Kantymir (1995); her oldest daughter Lena (1991); her father Nick Chokan (1982) and mother Annie Chokan. An infant sister (Lena) Mary Gripuik; a brother Harry; brothers-in-law Orest Kostuik and Steve Feniuk. Victoria is survived by her 2 daughters: Anne Wallace and Corrina Hiadachuk, 5 grandchildren: Cynthia, Matthew and Stephanie Wallace, Nicholas and Jessica Carlson; 1 great grandchild, Destiny; one brother, Andrew (Vera) Chokan; sisters: Nellie Kostuik, Helen Chokan and Christina Feniuk; and numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Monday, February 23rd 2015 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home with Crystal Bailey B.Th. officiating. Musical selections were 'Angel', 'Tears in Heaven', 'The Old Rugged Cross', and 'How Great Thou Art'. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Lenny Salyn, Raymond Boucher, and Matthew & Stephanie Wallace serving as the casketbearers. Memorials were to the CNIB.
