KREKLEWETZ - Mr. Mike Kreklewetz of Yorkton, formerly of the Insinger district, beloved husband of Edith Kreklewetz passed away suddenly on February 10, 2015 at his home at the age of 88 years. Mike was born at the family homestead, in the Insinger district on March 1, 1927, son of Harry and Todosia Kreklewetz. He received his education at Lesanko School where he completed his ninth grade. Mike remained on the family farm helping his father. Mike was united in marriage to Edith Kucher on November 16, 1956 at the Lesanko Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Together they took over the farm and farmed until 2008 when they retired and moved to Yorkton. During his youth, Mike learned to play the violin and along with his family formed a band. He played at many weddings and dances. Mike was an active member of the Insinger Hiway Church and served as Treasurer for many years. He was also involved with caretaking the parish cemetery. He also served on the Insinger Community Pasture Board for numerous years. Upon moving to Yorkton, Mike and Edith became active in the Holy Transfiguration Church singing in the Parish Choir. Mike's greatest enjoyment came from farming and nature. Predeceased by his parents, Harry and Todosia; brothers, John and Bill; brother in infancy and nephew; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law; Mike leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Edith; sister Jean Tarnowetski of Airdrie, Alberta; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A Prayer Service was held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Gerald Yaholnitsky & Parish Choir Members. The cross bearer was Vanessa Smith and the banner bearers were Ryan Hutzul and Kris Kreklewetz. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Ted Kreklewetz, Tara Kucher, Les Danyluk, Allan Kucher, Dwayne Maleschuk and Terry Hutzul serving as the casket bearers.
