Obituary of Joseph Franchishin
Joseph Franchishin was born April 2, 1937 in the Sheho Farms district, Tuffnell south to Julian and Rose (Chaikowski) Franchishin. Joe attended Runnymede rural school and received his education. At the completion of his schooling Joe worked on the family farm along with his dad and his younger brother Billy. Joe also worked for several area farmers during seeding and harvest. A few summers were spent working with the PFRA, fencing. When Joe moved to Yorkton with his parents in 1976, Joe began working with Canada Post driving the delivery truck to several communities, doing this for several years. Joe loved big shiny cars and added extra feature lights etc. to make the car the envy of everyone. He made sure it was mechanically sound and received an extra polishing before going out on Saturday night. Joe also had a motorcycle. He made certain that all of this vehicles and so forth were well looked after and clean. Joe enjoyed socializing with a drink or two and was always whistling but he was a man of few words. Joe was predeceased by his father Julian in June of 1997, his mother Rose in March of 2006, his brother Billy in January 2005, a sister and a brother who passed away in infancy. He is survived by his sister in law, Kaye Fransishyn, Aunty Ann Chaikowsky of Ituna, Aunty Olivia Chaikowski of Canora and several cousins and friends. Joe passed away in his sleep on January 30, 2015 at the age of 77 years old. May he rest in peace. Vichnai Pamyat. A graveside service was held on February 3 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Fr. Raymond Lukie officiating. Pallbearers were Nestor Kokoski, Lorne Chaikowski, Nick Chaikowsky, Terry Chaikowsky, Leonard Antonishyn and Dean Peterson. The family of the late Joe Franchinshin would like to thank the residents and staff at Queen Elizabeth Court in Yorkton, Bailey's Funeral Home, Rev. Fr. Raymond Lukie and the pallbearers.
