Obituary of James "Jim" Gorecki

Jim Gorecki of Melville, Saskatchewan passed away suddenly on January 24, 2015 at the age of 75. He was born on a farm near Melville, SK on May 25, 1939, the youngest child of Peter and Alvina (nee Tank) Gorecki. At the age of 2, the family moved to Quebec later returning to Melville when he was 6 years old. He graduated the class of 1957 from St. Henry's school. He met the love of his life Cynthia in 1956 and later they were united in marriage on June 30, 1960. He worked as a mechanic at Red Star garage along side his father Peter and brother Roland and later expanded into family farming with them. He later purchased an H&R Block franchise which he started out of a bedroom in his home. Through his business he was able to follow his passion meeting and helping people. He soon expanded from Melville to Yorkton, Canora and Esterhazy. He recently received his 45 year award from H&R Block as a long time franchise owner. He was so proud that his sons Gordon & Randy and grandson Sean had also joined him in the business. He was blessed with 3 children and 3 grandchildren. He loved the outdoors. Some of his most valued time was spent traveling with his wife, in nature at the solitude of their cabins. He spent many hours riding his motorcycles, quading and dirt biking with his wife and family. He enjoyed collecting cars and trying to keep up with all the latest technology. He also loved to travel with all his family and beloved dog. In his younger years, he played his accordion in various bands along side his father on the violin and brother on the saxophone. You can imagine what it would sound like, as they all practiced at his mom and dad's home. He was predeceased by his father Peter and mother Alvina Gorecki. He leaves to cherish his life, his wife Cynthia (nee Hudy) of Melville, SK; daughter Alanna (Monte) Erhardt of Yorkton, SK; sons Gordon (Heather) Gorecki of Esterhazy, SK and Randy Gorecki of Yorkton, SK; grandchildren Jolene Erhardt (Stu Gair) of Regina,SK, Sean Gorecki of Esterhazy, SK and Madison Erhardt of Saskatoon, SK; brother Roland (Donna) Gorecki of Melville, SK and sister Doris (Leo) Yelle of White Rock, BC.; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
