Obituary of Arthur "Art" Lambie

LAMBIE - Arthur Sheldon Lambie was born on October 7, 1936 and passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Center on January 7, 2015, with his devoted wife of 56 years, Marie, by his side. He was the sixth of seven children born to William and Margaret Lambie. Art was raised on the family farm in Dubuc, Saskatchewan and attended Larson School. He moved to Ontario in 1956 where he pursued the electrical trade and Marie. On November 15, 1958 he was united in marriage to Marie Belanger in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Throughout their marriage they lived in Thunder Bay Ontario, Yorkton Saskatchewan, Fort Francis Ontario, Mission B.C., Fort St. John B.C., and Prince George B.C., where he pursued various electrical endeavors, before returning to Saltcoats in 1984 to farm. They started their family in 1963 in Yorkton where they returned in 2002 after Art retired. Throughout his life Art enjoyed aviation and flying throughout Canada and the arctic. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, travelling, supper in the field, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also had a love of animals, especially his border collie, Lady. Art has left an immense legacy for his family. His hard-working attitude is reflected in both his children and grandchildren. He was a true tradesman who ensured that the jobs exceeded the customer's requirements and that the job site was left cleaner than it was found. He was also a passionate mentor who shared his knowledge with everyone in his life, and passed on valuable life lessons to all of his family and colleagues. He was a resourceful entrepreneur with an optimistic spirit who developed many businesses throughout his life. His first and last calling was farming, a lifestyle he truly cherished. Art was predeceased by his parents William and Margaret Lambie; his sisters Margaret, Beryl Jean, Dorothy, and Evelyn; and his brother, Robert. Left to cherish Art's memory are his loving partner Marie; his son Calvin; his son Patrick (Heidi) and their children Amanda and Taylor; his daughter Elizabeth (Floyd) and their children Christopher and Michelle; and his daughter Rebecca (Mitch). He is also survived by his brother, John Douglas (Vi) Lambie; sister-in-law Dorothy Lambie; brother-in-law Ed Shannon; sister-in-law Diane (Jim "Skip") Eaton; and brother-in-law Richard (Maria) Belanger. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, B.Th officiating.
