Mary Lischynski was born on March 5, 1922 on the family farm in the district east of Gorlitz, Saskatchewan. A daughter to Wasyl and Alexandra (nee Mihaychuk) Panchuk. Mary grew up in the district and attended Bridok School. She helped on the farm and as well helped care for her grandmother and raise her siblings. Mary was united in marriage to Metro Lischynski on October 19, 1944 and they farmed on the Lischynski homestead. Their son Ron was born on August 21, 1945. In 1972 Mary and Metro retired and moved into Canora where they remained very active. They continued to help the family on the farm. Mary was very involved with St. Andrew's United Church, being a part of the choir, the Ladies Auxiliary and doing maintenance around the church as well. She was also involved with the Hospital Auxiliary and the horticultural Society. Mary loved flowers and gardening. She even kept a small greenhouse in the yard when the kids were selling flowers. Her favourite part of this was visiting with the many people that would come to look at flowers. Mary loved to bake and cook as well. She had perfected the art of baking chiffon cakes and made perogies and homemade noodles that she and Metro would sell at farmers markets. Another big part of Mary's life was her granddaughters and eventually her great grandsons. Watching their many activities and participation in sports. Mary passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Metro in 2013; two sisters, Kay Procyshen and Ann Young; two brothers John and Fred Panchuk.
