SALLIE - Mrs. Mary Sallie (nee Pilot) of Yorkton, widow of Victor passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2014 at her residence at Morris House in the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. Mary was born on January 8, 1935 in Leross, Saskatchewan, the youngest of seven children born to Wasyl and Katherine Pilot. Mary grew up on the family farm and attended school in Leross. She met Victor Sallie and they were united in marriage on November 6, 1952. They were blessed with eight children and resided one mile north of Leross where they farmed for several years. In 1976 they moved to Yorkton and soon after mom was employed at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home as a nurse's aide and later as an activity aide until she retired. Mom loved her family more than anything. She had a heart of gold and her arms were always ready to give a hug. She enjoyed cooking and her kitchen was always prepared with food to feed anyone who came to visit. Preparing the next meal was one of her main priorities and she was an awesome cook…what about those cabbage rolls!! She enjoyed singing, dancing, crafts, playing cards, games, gardening & the love of nature. We all know mom's favorite color was green and she loved clocks, elephants too. She also enjoyed dressing up for Halloween with friends and for the residents at the nursing home, plus she was always the first to instigate a milk fight in the barn, a water fight outside and telling good jokes. She just loved to have fun! Mom enjoyed her adventures as she travelled across Canada from B.C. to the Maritimes, to Hawaii, to seven countries in Europe and on her cruise up to Alaska. She was a beautiful wife, mother, baba, friend and will be missed by all. She was predeceased by her parents, Wasyl and Katherine Pilot, her husband Victor Sallie, her brothers, Mike, Steve, Russell and Eddy Pilot, her sisters, Tena Osowski and Lena Moleski, her sister-in-laws, Doris, Kay and Eva Pilot, Mary Morris, Josephine Davis, Nellie Ireland, and Anne Braaten and brother-in-laws Carl, Mike and John Sallie, Joe Osowski, Russell Moleski, Fred Ireland, Ed Braaten, Tom Morris, Vivian Davies and Cleve Peterson and her grandaughter Aleesha Shevchuk.
