Obituary of Rosie Misko

Rosie passed away suddenly but peacefully at St. Peters Hospital in Melville, Saskatchewan on December 20, 2014. Rosie was born on March 17, 1922 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Rosie, was the second of seven children born to Katie and Mike Elash. She grew up on a farm north of Goodeve and attended Nanton School. She often helped her father with the fieldwork. She met Mike Misko and married in 1941, where they farmed north of Fenwood for over 50 years. During this time she was actively involved on various committees at Plainview Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rosie's faith was strong and ever increasing through her prayers and the rosary. She also loved gardening, ice fishing, and was well known for her cooking and homemade wine. Rosie and Mike were married for 56 years. Rosie was predeceased by her husband, Mike, who passed away on exactly the same date December 20th in 1997: her parents Katie (Sereda) and Mike Elash; three sisters, Ann, Eva, and Nettie; and two brothers; John and Tony; Rosie leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, her loving son Ron and daughter-in-law Cynthia Misko; and sister Mae Bierwagen; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. A very special thank you to: the nurses and staff at St. Peter's Hospital who were at my mother's side when she passed away; the home care nurses and aides who visited regularly; and the management and staff at Caleb Village in Melville who helped make the last few months of Rosie's life more comfortable and enjoyable. Their kindness and compassion will always be remembered.
