Obituary of Carol Elaine Whitehouse

WHITEHOUSE - Carol Elaine Whitehouse was born on December 28, 1946 at Wadena, Saskatchewan; a daughter of Ted and Doris Whitehouse. Carol grew up in the Jasmin district where she received her early schooling until she was bused to Kelliher, where she graduated Grade 12. After graduation Carol went to work at the University of Saskatchewan at Saskatoon as a data entry operator. She retired in 2010 after working 34 years for SAHO, and it's predecessor, Health Systems Support group. It was there she made many lifelong friends. Carol enjoyed playing cards, reading and spending time at the lake. She was an avid curling, Blue Jay, and Rider fan. In 2005 Carol was the recipient of the Commemorative Medal for the Centennial of Saskatchewan for her significant contribution to our province. When she was diagnosed with cancer, Carol went to reside in the Cedar Garden Care Home. She wanted to express her thanks to the staff at the home, Dr. Iqbal and the staff at the Saskatoon Cancer Center and North-East 2 Home Care. Carol also wanted to give special thanks to Dale Natowcappo for all her care and compassion. Carol passed away on Friday, November 28th 2014 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. She was 67 years of age. Carol was predeceased by her father Ted, mother Doris; her brother Donald, and an infant sister Marilynn. Left to cherish her memory are her brothers: Ken (Jacquie) and Barry (Lois); sister Janice (Dennis) Maksymovitch; ten special nieces and nephews; her long-time friend, Donalee Schmidt; and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from St. Vladimir's Church in Kelliher with Crystal Bailey, B.Th. officaiting. Organist, Esta Sweatman led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Amazing Grace', 'How Great Thou Art', and 'In the Garden'. Words of remembrance were given by Ken Whitehouse. Dona Lee Schmidt was the honorary bearer. The interment took place in the Kelliher Memorial Gardens with Neil & Kevin Maksymovitch, and Chad, Travis, Ed & Tyson Whitehouse serving as the casketbearers.
