Obituary of Owen Nicholas Lutzko

A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". Owen Nicholas Lutzko was born on April 5, 1978 in Yorkton, SK. He is the eldest son of Jane (Lutzko) and David Filarczuk and has two half brothers Darren and Layton. Owen attended both elementary and high school in Ituna graduating in 1996. He married Geraldine Kwasnitza on June 28, 2008 on the Lutzko family farm. They have two daughters, Taylor and Brooklyn. Owen had a variety of jobs, ranging from working on the rigs to being a cowboy in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He even did a short stint working for Sask Wheat Pool. He devoted most of his working career to carpentry and construction. He started his own business in Ituna, where he did a variety of things: building large shops, eaves troughs, cement work, and everything in between - a true jack of all trades. His true passion was horses; however it remained more of a sideline than a true occupation. He was a natural born rider and he spent much time caring for, breaking and breeding horses. One of his best friends was his border collie "Jilli". Owen was an avid outdoorsman and he especially loved to fish and hunt. He took his family fishing to Thunder Rapids one year and that soon turned into an annual event with more of his family and friends attending each year. Mother's day was spent beaver hunting after going out for supper. He was also a big game hunter and could not wait until hunting season started. He enjoyed taking Geraldine and his girls "scouting". He was very proud of the smoker and meat shack he had been working on - readying it for use for the game he planned to get this fall; unfortunately, he never got to finish it or use it. He also enjoyed going quading with the boys in the spring and was always up for any adventure. He lived life to the fullest, always doing what he wanted when he wanted. His business and his adventures took him all over the province. Everywhere he went, he knew someone or someone knew him. On Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at the age of 36, Owen tragically passed away with his wife, children, mom, dad, brothers and many family members and friends at his bedside. He is predeceased by his great-grandpa (John) and great-grandma (Pearl), grandpa (Nick), his grandmas (Sophie and Mary), his Aunt Phyllis, and Uncle Joe Adamiak. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Geraldine, daughters Taylor and Brooklyn, his parents Jane and David, his brothers Darren and Layton, as well as his in-laws, Peter and Veronica Kwasnitza, sister-in-law April (Lammie) Pavelich, brother-in-laws Peter (Charmaine) and Tanis Castle and Chris (Krystin) Kwasnitza and their children Tiffany and Peter, plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was a loving and much loved son, husband, father and brother. He was very generous to his friends and would help them out whenever they needed a hand. He will be greatly missed by all and will be forever in our hearts.
