MARTIN - Mrs. Anne Martin, resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home passed away on November 11, 2014, 5 days shy of her 100th birthday. Anne Martin was born on the family farm in the Kessock district on November 16, 1914. She was the youngest of ten children born to John and Katherine (nee Antonuik) Zacharuk. Anne attended Scotland School in the Kessock area, completing her grade 8, after which she stayed home to help her parents. On October 8, 1939, she married Frank Martin of Wroxton. The wedding took place at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. In the early 1940's they moved to New Westminister, BC, where Anne took a job in the plywood department of Frazer Mills. She often regaled us with stories of the fun she had there despite the pressure of working in a male dominated environment. In 1944, Anne and Frank returned to the family farm near Wroxton, where they raised four children. Anne was creative, as was evidenced by the appearance of home, her yard and even her children's Halloween costumes (which were always the best!) She loved flowers, cats & birds, (Not so much cows). Anne was a member of St. Mary's Church and loved singing in the choir and was a member of the UCWL. Anne's infectious sense of humor and "Zbetki" brought joy and laughter to family and friends. Anne leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Linda and Curt Keilback of Winnipeg, son Ron and Colleen Martin of Wroxton, daughter Dale Martin of Winnipeg, and son Gerry and Kelly Martin of Coombs, BC. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren who adored her, Warren Keilback of Winnipeg, MB, Luke (Sara) Keilback of Winnipeg, MB, Simon Miller of Winnipeg, MB, Adam Martin of Victoria, BC, Anna Martin of Victoria, BC and Kate Martin of Wroxton, SK. Great grandchildren; Drae and Knox Keilback of Winnipeg, MB. Anne was predeceased by her husband Frank in 2003, her first born child, Ivan in 1944, her parents and all of her brothers and sisters. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was held on Saturday, November 15th 2014 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Raymond Lukie C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus and St. Mary's Choir members. The crossbearer was Al Bryski, and Gerry Martin was the Epistle-reader. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Curt, Warren & Luke Keilback, Simon Miller, and Anna and Adam Miller serving as the casketbearers.
