BIBLOW - Mrs. Dorothy Biblow, a resident of Yorkton & District Nursing Home passed away on November 3, 2014 at the age of 99 years. Dorothy was born on July 25, 1915 in the Whitesand, Saskatchewan area, eldest daughter of Magda and Fred Spelchen. She was raised on the family farm and attended the Homestead school. On October 27, 1939 she was united in marriage to Nick Biblow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The couple farmed in the Buchanan district until 1966, at that time they sold their farm and moved to the Preeceville district and continued farming until the spring of 1977 when they retired to Yorkton. Dorothy was an avid gardener and loved providing fresh vegetables and fruit to family and friends. Dorothy also loved to read and continued doing so up to her final days, without ever having to wear eyeglasses. Truly an exceptional lady, she loved her grandchildren and they in return, sure loved their "Baba". Dorothy was very strong in her Catholic faith and passed that on to all her children. Dorothy sold her house at the age of 91 and moved into assisted living care for three years and then moved into long-term care at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. Dorothy had an exceptional sense of humour; for example, while living at the care home she was asked to pick a song during an entertainment evening and Dorothy picked "Show me the way to go home". This drew a lot of laughter from the crowd! Predeceased by her parents Fred and Magda Spelchen, husband Nick Biblow, brothers Mike, Bill, Nick and Johnny, sisters Anne, Pauline and Mary. She leaves to mourn her children, Adeline Tzupa of Yorkton, Marge (Bernie) Slugoski of Yorkton, Eileen (Don) Danyluk of Saskatoon, Jim (Germaine) Biblow of Cochrane and Andy (Donna) Biblow of Calgary; fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, a brother Peter (Donna) Spelchen of Canora, sisters Olga Verheyde of Vancouver, Rosalyn (Emil) Arabsky of Grand Prairie, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
