BROWN - Mrs. Gayle Brown of Yorkton, beloved wife of Garry passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on October 22, 2014 at age 71 years. Gayle was born in Yorkton on April 22, 1943. She grew up in Willowbrook in a loving family, often helping her Mom around the house and her Dad at the Midway Esso gas station. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School, she trained as a registered psychiatric nurse at the Weyburn Mental Health Hospital. She moved back to Yorkton where she married her soul mate of 43 years Garry, had two beautiful children and fulfilled her career at the Yorkton Psychiatric Centre. Gayle was a loving and caring woman with many passions and interests. She loved to spend time outdoors. She took pride in maintaining her garden and flower garden and enjoyed reaping the harvest each year. Gayle's favourite family vacations were spent camping at Good Spirit Lake each summer when her children were young. She was a social person and enjoyed spending time with family and friends having coffee or playing cards. Gayle was also passionate about reading as evidenced by her book collection. An ever proud mother, Gayle travelled the province many times over to watch her children participate in sporting events. When blessed with grandchildren, they became the light in her eyes. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Garry; daughter Shardelle; son Jason (Tanya); grandchildren - Emily, Colten, Bailey and Taylor; brother Murray (Maureen) Pankoski; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gayle was predeceased by her father Matthew Pankoski and her mother Anne (nee Klisko) Pankoski and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Gayle will be greatly missed by her family and friends and her life will be forever remembered and celebrated. A Prayer Service was held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus & St. Mary's Choir members. The cross bearer was Jill Pankoski and the epistle reader was Colleen Pankoski. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Matthew at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Jason Brown, Walter Oucharek, Elmer Matisho, David Pankoski, Cary Stricker and Sean Alcorn serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honoring Gayle's life may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund, 155 Catherine Street. Yorkton, SK S3N 0B9.
