PRINTZ - Kenneth Herbert Printz was born on December 4, 1926 at Melville, Saskatchewan, a son of Elizabeth (nee Stein) and William Printz. Ken attended school in Yorkton and graduated from the Yorkton Collegiate Institute. As a young man he first began working at the Firestone Tire store in Yorkton. On October 31, 1953 he was united in marriage to Joyce Chappell. As a young couple, Ken and Joyce ventured to Toronto, where Ken attended the Radio College of Canada, earning his Electronics Technician Certification, and Joyce worked as a nurse. The couple then moved to Hamilton where Ken was employed at Canadian Westinghouse for about a year. Shortly after, the couple decided to return to Saskatchewan, settling in Yorkton so Ken could open his own electronics repair business - KP Radio & Television Service. It was located on East Broadway Street and he successfully operated the business for many years. In the mid 1970's Ken joined the technical staff of CKOS Television, a position he held for ten years, retiring in 1985. Ken enjoyed his retirement years, he was always working about and around the house, doing yard work and various construction projects. He was always available to fix electronics, and he had a passion for video tape recording. He was a long standing member of Zion Lutheran Church and had served as an Elder for several years. Ken took great pride in operating the church sound system during Sunday services. He was an avid Rider fan, and enjoyed birds and his cat Minnie. Ken and Joyce greatly enjoyed socializing with their many relatives and friends, especially the crew affectionately known as the Alexandra Gang. In October of 2013, Joyce and Ken moved to Saskatoon and took up residence at Samaritan Place, where they had since resided. Ken's health had been failing for some time and he passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Monday, September 22, 2014. He was 87 years of age. Ken was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Ida; and by brothers Gordon and George. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Joyce; two sons: Dean (Kim) of Melville, and Scott (Christine) of Saskatoon; his brother Wilbert of Calgary; his sister Doreen Best of Regina; and his sister-in-law Marvel Wenzel of Saskatoon, and their families. The funeral service was held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton with Rev. Daniel G. Moeller officiating.
