PROTSKO - Mrs. Selma Protsko, formerly of Saltcoats, widow of Nick Protsko passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Wednesday August 27, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Selma was born on June 18, 1925 in the Otthon district. She was the second oldest of a family of nine born to William and Huldena Aichele . Selma was raised in the Fone Hill and Otthon districts. On November 29th, 1946 Selma was united in marriage to Nick Protsko at the Apostolic Church in Yorkton. Nick and Selma moved to Saltcoats and operated a Livery Barn for three years and also did some farming. In 1956 Nick and Selma moved to a farm just outside of Saltcoats and remained there till their retirement in Yorkton in 1977. Selma was predeceased by her husband Nick, her mother Huldena, father William, brothers Alfred, Alvin and Walter, sister Lorraine, sister-in-law Dorothy Aichele, brother-in-law Harland Geiger and grandson-in-law Aaron Kitz. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Betty (Bernhard) Trost of Roblin, MB; son Ron (Peggy) of Yorkton, SK; grandchildren Coreen (Ian) Strutynski of Edmonton, AB; Malinda (Kurtis) Milbrandt of Olds, AB; Coralie (Ryan) Beerman of Roblin, MB; Mindy (Dwight) Mitchell of Togo, SK; Kelly (Sandra) Protsko of Calgary, AB; great grandchildren Madalyn, Greta and Sophie Milbrandt; Hailey, Levi, Sawyer and Sadie Beerman; brother Ed (Joyce) Aichele of Yorkton, SK; brother Milton (Iris) Aichele of Yorkton, SK; sister Alice (Cecil) Geiger of Three Hills, AB; brother Irwin (Esther) Aichele of Calgary, AB; sister-in-laws Emma Aichele of Langley, B. C. and June Aichele of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Selma accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized later on in her life. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Saltcoats for many years, where she taught Sunday School and helped with VBS. She was a hard working lady whose passion was to garden and she grew some of the most beautiful flowers. She was known for being very hospitable and always had food in her house to share with anyone who stopped in. What we will remember and miss the most about her is her love for people. She loved to visit and talk to family and friends. She was like Grandma to many people around her. She dearly loved her family and loved to share stories with her grandchildren. We always knew Jesus was very precious to her. She will be greatly missed. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre Rev. Glenn Boyce officiating. The pianist, Malinda Milbrandt (Granddaughter) led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Victory in Jesus", "When We All Get to Heaven" and "He the Pearly Gates Will Open". "Meet Me There" was recited. Special Musical Selections, "The Love of God" was sung by Diane Marshall (Niece) and "Hallelujah Square" by Madalyn, Gretta & Sophia Milbrandt and Hailey Beerman (Granddaughters). The eulogy was delivered by Coreen Strutynski and Coralie Beerman (Granddaughters). The interment followed in the Garden of St. Matthew at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with John Protsko, John Marshall, Brian Hebron, Dwight Mitchell, Ken Aichele and Ian Strutynski serving as the casket bearers.
