Obituary of William "Bill" Rodych

William (Bill) Rodych was born at home on the family farm in the Beckenham district of Saskatchewan on March 10, 1921; son of Alec and Justina (Yurchyshyn) Rodych. Bill attended school at Runneymede. In 1946 Bill met the love of his life Eva Krywulak. It was on June 16, 1946 that Bill and Eva were married on the Rodych family farm. In 1949 Bill and Eva took over the family farm. During his farming days Bill took pride in his church (Beckenham district) where he served as a Church Elder (Starshay braut) and many other duties with the church. Bill also loved playing violin in his band at many farm weddings. In 1989 they moved to Ituna where they took great pride in their yard, gardening, church, playing cards with their family, friends and neighbours. While on the farm they were blessed with five children: 3 sons, 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memories: son Morris and his children Vincent (Heather), great-grandchild Jayden of Lac duBonnet MB, daughter Shelley (Sheldon) Tardiff, great-grandchildren Hayden and Tyler of Pine Falls MB. Son Victor and his wife June (nee Obuck), children son Cory (Kendra), great-grandchildren Cole and Riley, daughter Melissa (Curtis) Meier, great-grandchildren Matthew, William and Samantha of Saskatoon. Son Orest and his wife Bernie (nee Loroff), grandchildren Nicole and Jason (fiancé Courtney) of Saskatoon. Daughter Bernadette and her husband Don Cole, grandchildren Christopher and Aaron of Saskatoon, Daughter Cynthia Cale and her partner Doug Rutherford of Saskatoon. Bill passed away peacefully at Ituna Pioneer Health Care Center on Monday, August, 18, 2014 at the age of 93. Predeceased by his wife Eva on November 8, 2012; parents Alec and Justina; brothers John and wife Alice, & Paul; sisters Rose Zatwarnitski and husband Fred, Mary Kruz and husband Andrew, Sophie Zborowsky and husband Mike, Katie Rodych, Ann Senkowski and husband Russell; and by brother-in-law Matt Dorosh. He also leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life his sisters: Pauline Dorosh of Ituna, Gladys and her husband Peter Byblow of Wynyard, and a sister-in-law Margaret Rodych of Yorkton. Prayer services were held on Thursday evening, August 21st 2014 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Friday, August 22, 2014 from Sacred Heart Church with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. Cantors, Heidi Spilchuk, Wayne Boczulak & Ladmer Moskal, assisted by members of the Parish Choir led in the singing of the responses. The crossbearer was Tyler Tardiff and the Epistle-reader was June Rodych. The interment followed in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Bill's grandchildren serving as the casketbearers. Memorials were to the Parish Cemetery Fund. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
