WONCHULANKO - Mr. George Wonchulanko of Yorkton, formerly of the Calder/Togo district, beloved husband of Olga Wonchulanko passed away peacefully on August 3, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 86 years young. George was born on March 15, 1928 to parents John and Sandra (Bordian) Wonchulanko, at home in the Assiniboine Valley of the Calder/Togo district. George married the love of his life, Olga Wozny, on November 24, 1951. They were blessed with two sons, Eugene and Bruce. He was a hard working man who provided for his family by farming and trapping during the winter months. Through the years, they farmed in the Togo and Calder district and recently moved to Victoria Court in Yorkton where he made many new friends. George enjoyed life and his retirement. He looked forward to any trip to do with hunting and fishing, where he taught his sons and grandsons all he knew. George had wit and wisdom and never feared sharing it with you. He loved visiting and telling stories, enjoyed time at family events, and spending time with any of his four grandchildren and his two great grandchildren. He especially loved the recent fishing trips with Olga. He loved to tease his daughter-in-laws and always had the most to say. George's favourite song was "It's Hard To Be Humble, when your perfect in every way"; this was Grampa George. He leaves to remember his life, his loving and caring wife Olga, of 62 ½ years; son Eugene (Sharon) and their children Lindsey (Evan) Bredesen and Landon as well as great grandchildren, Morrison and Bella; son Bruce (Adrienne) and their children Chad (fiancée Candice Weise) and Carmen (Sean) Zukewich as well as their bun in the oven. George was predeceased by his parents John and Sandra, sisters Frances, Mary, and Rose as well as many relatives too numerous to mention. George's memories will live on in all his family, relatives, and friends that have shared in his life. Prayers were held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at St. Andrew's United Church in Yorkton. The funeral service was held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. Andrew's United Church with Rev. Jen Dresser officiating. The organist, Carla Laycock led members of the parish choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns,"Beyond The Sunset", "Just As I Am", "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "Safe in The Arms of Jesus". A special selection, "It's Hard to Be Humble"was played as the recessional. Reflections of George's life were conveyed by grandson Chad and daughters-in-law Sharon and Adrienne. "Everyone who was touched by George's life" were considered as honourary pallbearers. The interment followed in the Garden of St. John at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Landon Wonchulanko, Chad Wonchulanko, Lindsey Bredesen, Carmen Zukewich, Evan Bredesen and Sean Zukewich as the casket bearers.
