GORDON - Nancy Gordon wife of the late Alec Gordon of Yorkton, formerly of Penticton, British Columbia passed away peacefully in Yorkton on August 1, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lorna (Don) Szabo; grandsons, Tim (Krystal, Zach and Charlie) and Trent (Jana, Keane and Mia); daughter-in-law, Darlene; grandsons, Geoff and James (Kyndree, Taylor and Cole). She was predeceased by her parents; brothers; Bobby and Duncan; sister, Vi; son, Bob in 2004 and husband Alec in 2008. Nancy was born in Rosehearty, Scotland on April 2, 1925, the third child of Robert and Annie Henderson. She was a spirited Scottish lass and led an average life until the outbreak of WWII. Then their world changed forever. Although the horror and terror of war adversely affected everyone; for Nancy there was a silver lining. She met and subsequently married a dashing Canadian solider, Alec (Sandy) Gordon. After sailing to Halifax on the QE2 she traveled by train to Calgary to meet her husband. Thus began her life as a Scottish war bride. Their 62 year marriage led them on many journeys. Robert George Gordon was born on September 9, 1947 in High River, Alberta and Lorna Ann Gordon was born October 25, 1950 in Radway, Alberta. Life led them to Longveen, Redwater, Regina and Edmonton. Retirement found them in Penticton in 1977. They had 30 wonderful years there together until Alec died in 2008. Nancy remained in their home until she decided that Yorkton was the place to be. In 2010 she moved in with Lorna and Don. Family and friends were Grannie's main focus and she liked nothing better than watching her grandkids and great grandkids having fun. She was a great bread maker and Scottish shortbread was her specialty. She enjoyed playing cribbage and her and Don played almost every day. She was active and feisty to the end. We will miss her and will cherish our many memories of her. An evening Memorial Service in celebration of Nancy's life was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey B.Th, Certified Celebrant officiating.
