A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memorial" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". KOMINETSKY - Mr. John William Kominetsky, beloved husband of the late Sherry Kominetsky, passed away after a sudden and brief illness on Tuesday July 29, 2014 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 62 years. John was born to William and Mary Kominetsky on August 24th, 1951, in Canora SK. John was raised on a farm, first in the Buchanan area and then in the Donwell area. John moved to Saskatoon for a brief time before finally settling in Yorkton where he met his wife Sherry. John and Sherry were united in marriage on September 30, 1980 and were blessed with two children, Kristy and Johnathon. John worked at Western Grocers for a number of years in Yorkton before going to work on his brother-in-law's farm in Canora, SK. John began working for the Regina Leader Post as a contract driver in 2003, which he continued until present. John's love for farming persisted as he also worked on the farm of Garnet Hansen until his passing. John, affectionately known as "Big John," was a quiet, kind and caring man content to be in his own home. John could most often be found with his son Johnathon with whom he shared a very close relationship. From working on mechanical and construction projects, to hanging out and going cruising, John was considered "one of the boys." John enjoyed dispensing his fatherly wisdom to his children and their friends and was a father figure to some. John was always willing to help those who needed it and did not ask for much in return. In his later years John, initially not known to be fond of dogs, became the owner of Chewy and then Reico. These dogs provided John with companionship and comfort, especially after the passing of his wife. John is predeceased by his wife, Sherry; his parents, William and Mary; his brother George; his sister, Caroline; and his twin brother, Alex. John leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his children Kristy (Dexter) and Johnathon (Denise); his siblings Lillian (Mike) and Olga (Danny); his sister-in-law Holly; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John also leaves to mourn his passing, Ryan Dmitruk who shared a father/son relationship with John and Henry Bryski, a close friend. Prayers were held on Monday, August 4, 2014 and the Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Gerald Yaholnitsky and parish choir members. Henry Bryski was named a honourary bearer. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Luke at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Kristy Kominetsky, Johnathon Kominetsky, Denise Kominetsky, Dexter Froehlich, Ryan Dmitruk and Justin Stirrett serving as the casket bearers.
