SHKWARCHUK - William ‘Bill' Shkwarchuk of Yorkton, formerly of Rhein, father of Lorna Sherring and Brian Shkwarchuk passed away on July 15, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was eighty five years of age. William Shkwarchuk was born, the youngest of twelve children, on May 15, 1929 on the family farm, twelve miles north of Springside in the Drobot district, a son of Wasyl and Anna (Magdych) Skwarchuk. Bill grew up on the family farm and started farming on his own in 1948. In 1959 he joined Sask Power Corp and was employed there until 1977. He then started employment with Acklands Ltd. and Ward Johnson Electric until 1982, at which time he joined Imperial 400 as Night Audit until his retirement in 1994. Bill was united in marriage to Georgia-Lee (Keith) in 1963. They were blessed with two children, Lorna and Brian. Bill loved being with relatives and friends visiting and conversing especially at Easter and Christmas, which was celebrated very highly. Bill kept a full schedule never to have a dull moment. He always gave a helping hand to relatives and friends whole heartedly and was never worried to take on any task. Bill was self-trained in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical. He took great pride in a job well done, which he demonstrated by designing and building the family cabin at Good Spirit Lake from ground up. His final project was building three sleighs by hand for himself and his children, one of which is on display outside of the Family Centre at Yorkton Memorial Gardens. He was an avid coin and stamp collector and loved to travel when he could. He also enjoyed a game of Bingo. He had a great love for animals and musical instruments and played many tunes by ear on his violin, accordion, cymbaly and banjo. Bill was a man of many talents. Bill passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, exactly two months after his 85th birthday. Bill is predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Anna; his brothers, Johnnie, Bill, George and Steve; sisters, Mary and Thelma; sisters-in-law, Katie and Anne; Georgia-Lee and his grandson Jordan. He leaves to celebrate his memory his two children, Lorna (Bryce) Sherring and Brian (Kristine) Shkwarchuk. His grandchildren; Riley, Brendan, Bryce Shaylee and Colbie Sherring and Bronwyn, Rowen and Adysen Shkwarchuk. His brother Metro and his sister Thelma Kowalyk; sister-in-law, Sally as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. An evening Tribute Service was held on Friday, July 18, 2014 with Crystal Bailey, B.Th. Certified Celebrant officiating. Tributes were given by niece, Joan and Bill's children Brian and Lorna. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky of Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church officiating. The Cantor, Gerald Yaholnitsky assisted by members of the parish choir sang the responses. The crossbearer was grandson, Colbie Sherring. Interment followed in the family plot in the Garden of Gethsemane in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Ron Shkwarchuk, Brendan Sherring, Lorne Maximnuk, Richard Boychuk, Aaron Hoffman and Shane Hoffman serving as casketbearers. Honourary Bearers were all of Bill's grandchildren.
