DELORME - Mrs. Elma Delorme was taken home by the Lord on July 2nd, 2014 following her diagnoses with lung cancer in May. She was 71 years, 11 months of age. Elma Irene Delorme (nee Prokopowich) was born on July 3, 1942 to Mike and Irene (nee Zelany) Prokopowich in Makaroff, Manitoba. She was the youngest daughter of the family. She loved Makaroff and always spoke about it. When one of us girls would get a chance, we would drive down there with her for a day. Elma left school and went to work at the Ninette Sanatorium, but she had to leave due to testing positive for tuberculosis. She then moved to Dauphin where she met Leo Joseph Delorme. They married in Yorkton. The Lord blessed her with five children, three daughters as well as two sons who died in infancy. Her life was centered around family. Her favourite pastimes were picking mushrooms, hazelnuts, and Saskatoons and reading inspirational romances. One of her favourite activities was planting her pansies on her balcony. Elma loved getting ready for the Yorkton Farmer's Market on Thursdays and Saturdays with her daughter, Irene. She also loved to bake for her grandson, Chris. He was her joy, and she spent time daily with him. Getaways to Regina where she spent time shopping with her daughters, Clara and Gloria, were a great source of joy for her. Mom enjoyed joking around with her son-in-laws. She was predeceased by her husband, mother, father, and two infant sons. She leaves behind to cherish her life three daughters, Irene (Terry), Clara (Roland) and Gloria; one grandson, Christian Baran; one brother, Alexander (Jean) Proctor of Surrey, BC, and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Captains, Glen and Rosanne Fraser of the Salvation Army officiating. The organist, Shirley Chornawka led in the singing of the hymns, 'I'll Fly Away', 'What A Day That Will Be' and 'Mansion Over the Hilltop'. The scripture reading was shared by daughter Irene and grandson Christian. Tributes were given by daughters, Clara and Gloria. The interment followed in the Garden of Memories at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with daughters, Irene, Clara, Gloria and grandson, Christian serving as the urn bearers.
