KRUK - Mrs. Nettie Kruk of Yorkton, beloved wife of Arnold Kruk entered eternal life on July 2, 2014 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home at the age of 73 years. Nettie was born on May 9, 1941 in the RM of Mossey River, Manitoba, daughter of Sam and Helen (nee Czwartkowski) Gashena. She received her formal education in the area and went on to Business College. On July 12, 1962 Nettie was united in marriage to Arnold Kruk at Dauphin, Manitoba. The couple moved to Thompson, Manitoba where they were blessed with two children. Nettie was a stay at home mom until moving to Yorkton when she took a Real Estate course and spent 7 ½ years working with Century 21. While at home she taught herself to knit, do macramé and continued to do Ukrainian embroidery and easter eggs. In addition to homemaking, Nettie was an Avon representative in Thompson for 13 years, receiving the President's Club award for nine of those years. Nettie will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of family, her smile and her ability to forgive and see the best in people. Her home was always open to visitors. She will be dearly missed by her husband Arnold; children Rob (Debra) and Sonia (Lloyd); grandchildren Aleeta and Travis; great grandchildren Jaxx and Abigail. She is survived by her two sisters Mary Solar and Jean (Victor) Belinsky; mother-in-law Mary Kruk; sisters-in-law Gloria (Ken) Hewat and Debra Kruk. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and the many friends they made over the years. The Prayer Vigil was held on Friday, July 4, 2014 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. The reading was conveyed by Sonia Kruk and the eulogy was shared by Rob Kruk. The pianist, Katherine Flaman led in the singing of the hymns, "Lift High the Cross", "Psalm 103", and "How Great Thou Art". The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The pianist, Diana Hornung led members of St. Gerard's in the singing of hymns, "Amazing Grace", "Psalm 116", "If God is For Us", "You are Near", "Song of The Angels" and "Sing with All the Saints in Glory". The readings were given by Sonia Kruk and Rob Kruk. Don & Sandy Solar served as the gift bearers. The interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with John Halabuza, Glen Brezinski, Henry Kereliuk, Dennis Williams, Skip Anderson and Orest Tanchyk serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Nettie's life may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
