Obituary of Alex Stumph

STUMPH - Alexander Stumph, beloved husband of late Mary Stumph of Yorkton passed away peacefully at the Theodore Health Centre on June 29, 2014. He was 99 years, 10 months of age. Alex was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Aug 20, 1914 and was the son to Jacob and Katie (Botolie) Stumph. Alex farmed at Stornoway, then moved to Yorkton where he was employed by Morris Rod Weeder, Yorkton Co-op and Beaver Lumber. Some of Alex's favourite pastimes were playing dice and cards. He loved to play horseshoe, bowling and fishing. He always talked about the one big fish that mom caught (it was really big). Alex was predeceased by his wife Mary and son Allan; five brothers - Johnny, Jack, Dave, Willie and Henry; 3 sisters - Mary, Martha and Tena. Alex leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters Myra (Edmund) Lutz and Barbara (Kenneth) Atkinson all of Yorkton, daughter in law Audrey (late Allan Stumph) of Prince Edward Island, sister Clara Rothenberger of Yorkton; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton with Rev. Daniel Moeller officiating. The organist, Verna Liebrecht led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, Beautiful Saviour, I'm But A Stranger Here and Rock of Ages. The eulogy was shared by Theresa Nerbas. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Mark at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Lindsay Nerbas, Tara Stumph, Darryle Rothenberger, Bob Lutz, Jacob Sawchuk and Roy Lutz serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Alex's life may be to the Arthritis Society. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneral home.
