Obituary of Marjorie Alberts

Marjorie Alberts was the fourth of ten children born to David and Agnes (Jenny) Stearn. She grew up in the Silver Willow district near Willowbrook. Marj became a teacher in 1937 and taught at Little Mountain School (Kipling area), Lookout School (Willowbrook area), Grahame School (Saltcolts area) and Llewelyn School (Bangor area) prior to marrying Alvin Charles Alberts, who farmed in the Happy Centre and Lookout districts. Marjorie Agnes Stearn married Alvin Charles Alberts on July 14, 1942. They were blessed with three children, Bruce Alvin of Nanaimo, B.B. Beverly Joan (Lawrence) Farmer of Chilliwack, B.C. and Marlene Diane (Anthony Wadsworth) of Millet, AB. Marjorie resumed her teaching career in 1956 and taught at Oak Hill, Happy Center, Cherryfield and Cumberland House Schools. Alvin and Marj left farming in 1970 and moved to Melville. Alvin passed away on November 29, 1978 at the age of 67. Until recently, Marj continued to live in her own home in Melville, where she was an active member of the Anglican Church, Melville Art Club and the Happy Gang Seniors Club. She enjoyed boating, fishing, Shuffleboard, cards and Slo-Pitch and, over the years, she became an accomplished artist. Many of these activities she enjoyed with close friends, family and her dear friend, Henry Mulla, who passed away in 2002. Marjorie passed away on June 22, 2014 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital at the age of 97 years. Predeceased by her parents; husband Alvin; siblings Phyllis (Jack Liable) Davis, Dorothy (Ed) Ball, John Stearn, Sidney (Mary) Stearn, Stuart Stearn, Russell Stearn, Audrey Stearn. Marj leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: sister, Olive (Richard) Wise of Norwalk, Ohio; her children and son-in-laws; grandchildren, Tammy Farmer, Alvin (Monique) Farmer, Danell (Tyler Decker) Farmer, Antony (T.j.) Wadsworth and step-granddaughter, Michelle (Lorimer) Wadsworth; great grandchildren, Teagan Farmer, Dylann Decker and step-grandchild, Roman Lorimer; brothers-in-law, Rueben (Mavis) Alberts, Ralph (Venita) Alberts, Everett (Ruth) Alberts; sister-in-laws, Margaret (Stuart) Stearn and Vennie (Russell) Stearn, Ileen (Edward) Alberts, Marjorie (Kelly) Alberts; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families, who were loved dearly.
