Obituary of Vivian Lenore Cooper
Vivian (nee Markham) Cooper third youngest of ten children of Harry and Emily (nee Gilhooly) Markham was born on May 22, 1925 in the Waldron District of Saskatchewan. Vivian received her education at the Good Hope School and Yorkton High School and helped her parents on the family farm. After receiving her education she worked for a Dry Cleaner in Yorkton. On August 7, 1943 Vivian married a long time neighbour boy Jack Cooper and the couple resided in Yorkton, Lethbridge, and Vancouver until 1954 when they started Jack's Junction Service at the Junction of 9 and 15 highways. Vivian enjoyed sewing for friends and relatives and made many wedding and other dresses. She later turned this love of sewing into a business, opening up "Vivian's Alterations" in the Paragon Mall, Melville. In 1997 the couple moved in to the Melville Legion Manor. In January of 2010 Vivian became a resident at St. Paul Lutheran Home where she passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Vivian was a member of the Eastern Star and was a Secretary for the Good Hope Telephone Company. She enjoyed curling, playing bingo, sewing, swimming, fishing, traveling, socializing and singing. Her pride and joy was spending time with and cooking for her husband, children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, her brothers Walter, Harold, Donald and Pat and sisters Marie and Dorothy, Vivian leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 70 years Jack; her three sons, Brian (Sharon) of Rosthern, SK, Bob (Janie) of Regina, SK and Lorne (Alvena) of Saskatoon, SK; eight grandchildren, Danielle (Vern), Andrea, Tyler, Lynn Anne, Kathy (Jim), Lane (Tarene), Ashley (Sam) and Jodi (Bo); eight great-grandchildren; brother, Ray; sisters, Merle (Howard) and Gladys; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family sincerely thanks the staff of St. Paul Lutheran Home for the wonderful care provided during her stay there. In Lieu of Flowers, donations on her behalf to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be welcomed.
