KRYSKI - Mr. Gilbert Kryski of Yorkton, beloved husband of Olga Kryski passed away peacefully on June 13, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 85. Gilbert Norman Kryski was born on November 27, 1928 in the Hamton district to Paul and Helen (Melnychuk) Kryski. Gilbert married Olga Ogrodnick on October 29, 1955 in Mikado, Saskatchewan. Shortly after their marriage Gilbert and Olga moved to Geraldton, Ontario where Gilbert began his career as a butcher for the Co-op. In 1956 their first child, Gloria blessed their marriage, after that four more were born in Ontario, one in Killarney, MB and one in Grandview, MB. The family moved back to Yorkton in 1973. Gilbert's career in retail spanned over 40 years. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He spent countless hours volunteering his time to the Church, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Timmy's Snowarama where he raised thousands of dollars and held the Oldest Rider Award for many years and tirelessly helping out others in need. Gilbert enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and taking his family on vacations across Canada and the U.S. Gilbert loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, helping them with any project that came along. His children were very proud to call him "Dad". Even in his final days he smiled and laughed with us, always happiest to be with his dear wife, his true love of 58 years. He will be dearly missed by his wife Olga; his children Gloria of Niagara Falls, Geraldine of Saskatoon, Norman of Edmonton, Gilbert Jr. (Charlene) of Houston, Texas, Walter (Michelle) of Yorkton, Robert of Yorkton and Dennis (Ramona) of Yorkton; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; his brother Tony (Darlene) Kryski; numerous nieces, nephews and his many friends that he made over the years. Gilbert was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law, a granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters. The Prayer Vigil was held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. The pianist, Carol Nagy led St. Gerard's Choir in the singing of the hymns, "Christ Be Our Light", "Psalm 63" and "Amazing Grace". The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The pianist, Diana Hornung led members of St. Gerard's Choir in the singing of the hymns, "Glory and Praise to Our God", "Psalm 145", "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "On Eagle's Wings", "Song of The Angels" and "Amazing Grace". The readers were Kari Kryski, Mandy Boniface and Shallan Kryski. The gift bearers were Norman Kryski and Gloria Kryski. Knights of Columbus, Council #2031 served in an honour guard. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Gilbert's grandchildren, Kyle Kryski, Darren Brockett, Logan Kryski, Trevor Kryski and Arron Kryski, Saber Kryski and Saxson Kryski serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Gilbert's life may be made to the Saskatoon Children's Hospital.
