Obituary of Martha Graff

Martha Graff passed away suddenly at home in Melville, SK on June 9, 2014 at the age of 86. Martha was born on September 12, 1927 and raised at her families farm at Shevlin, MB. She was the 8th child of 13. She was baptized & confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shevlin, MB. She attended Grainfields School at Shevlin, MB. Martha moved to Melville in 1944 and stayed with her sister Winnie and her husband Gerry. Martha worked in retail until she met and married Fred Graff on June 28, 1949. Fred & Martha were blessed with 4 children. Gwendolyn who passed away at 9 months of age in 1953, Morley who was born in 1955, Katherine in 1960 followed by Melissa in 1966. Martha moved to the farm at Duff, SK that she and Fred purchased in 1969 and lived there until Fred's death in 1976. Martha moved back to Melville in 1976 with her two girls and went to work at Buy-Rite Grocery and then the Quick-freeze which she retired from. Martha led a very active life. She sang in her church choir. She bowled in the Women's League. She had many friends which she loved to visit and coffee with. Martha always loved being with family and frequently there were gatherings at her home where she loved to cook for everyone. Martha loved gardening in the summer. She always had her nose in a book and enjoyed countless hours reading. She was an avid Bingo player and loved crocheting and knitting. Martha loved her grandchildren and made many trips to Mackenzie, BC in the summers to spend time with them. They were her greatest joy. Martha leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory: Her son Morley (Sharon) Graff, daughters Katherine (Tim) Mckinley and Melissa Graff. Four grandchildren Lisa Hahn (Brian), Joseph Graff, Tara Etter (Barrie), Morley Graff Jr. Two great grandchildren Garette Gear and Cobie Lynne Gear. Her sisters Pearly Pokrant, Esther (John) Resch, Winnie Groff. Her brothers Phillip (Alma) Edel, Rudy (Elaine) Edel, Gary (Vi) Edel, Ernest Edel. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her daughter Gwendolyn, her husband Fred, sisters Margaret Marzoff, Hilda Edel, Ann Hetter, Elsie Hetter, brother John Edel.
