Obituary of Victor Thomas Cariou

CARIOU Victor Thomas Vic passed away at age 82 at St Peter’s Hospital in Melville Sask. on May 5, 2022 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born August 27, 1939 to Julian and Clemence Cariou, one of 15 children. He spent his early years in the Jasmin/Ituna area until age 15 when the family moved to Meadow Lake, Sask. Vic worked as a butcher for a time at IGA and then went to work at the Carling O’Keefe Brewery in Saskatoon for 17 years. After his retirement he worked various jobs, one being a bartender at Loon Lake, Sk. Vic enjoyed nature and the great outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and camping brought him much pleasure. In his later years he helped his farmer friends in the fields. He and his best friend Carmen Bonneau often farm sat for the Sergeants caring for the animals and farm. Vic loved a good joke and loved to laugh with friends. He enjoyed a rousing game of cards with friends but Bingo was his real passion. Vic was predeceased by his parents Julian and Clemence, brothers Ray, Hank, Jules, Jack and Mark and sisters Beatrice, Sandra, Blanche, Ginger, and Anita. Henry the cat. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Brothers Charlie (Ellymae), Leo (Peggy), Sisters Marcie and Marcia, numerous nieces and nephews and his special friend Carmen Bonneau. Arrangements by Bailey’s Funeral Home Melville. Mass of Christian Burial will take place later this summer at St Stanislaus RC Church Ituna,Sask Service Details.
