Obituary of Leo Demontigny
A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". Leo Demontigny was born on August 7, 1932 at Ste. Madeleine, Manitoba; a son of Rose (nee Fisher) and Alfred Demontigny. Leo was raised in Ste. Madeleine and later moved to ‘the corner'. At a young age he began working around home and then for farmers in the district. On November 26, 1951 he was united in marriage to Victoria Ducharme. The couple lived at ‘the corner', and worked for farmers in the Binscarth and Russell districts as well as trapping and hunting. In 1967 the couple ventured west to British Columbia, where he worked for the railroad for a time before returning to ‘the corner'. In the 1970's the couple lived between Manitoba and with their daughter Rita in Saskatoon. In 1987 they came to Yorkton, where they resided. Victoria predeceased Leo on March 13, 2002. Following that time Leo continued to maintain his independence, but as his health declined he needed more constant care, so he lived for a time with his daughter Julie. Following a debilitating stroke, Leo became a resident of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home in October of 2007, and was a resident there until his passing on Friday, May 30th, 2014. He was 81 years of age. Besides his wife Victoria, he was predeceased by a son Francis in infancy; brothers Dan, Ernest & Bill, and by a sister Angela Allarie. He leaves to cherish his memory his three daughters: Rita Ducharme (Dale) of Yorkton; Michelle Demontigny (David) of Saskatoon; and Julie Demontigny (Marlon) of Yorkton; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Francis & Cindy (Samantha, Andrew, Eric, Dylan & Cale); Nancy & Gary (Elyssa, Brendan & Emma); Mark & Brandi (Zachary & Kaitlyn); Audrey; Chasity & Scott (Tristan); & Devon. He also leaves his sister Victoria Genaille to cherish his memory. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends. Service Information
