Obituary of Adeline Romanuik

It is with great sadness the family of Adeline Romanuik, wife of the late Metro Romanuik, announce her passing on Thursday, May 29. 2014 with her family by her side. Adeline was born on August 9, 1928 in Donwell, Sk. , the second daughter of Albin and Kate (nee Sklaruk) Kshanowski. Adeline grew up and worked on the family farm alongside her parents and sisters Alvina, Isabelle and Victoria. Adeline attended school in Mazeppa, SK. And after school moved to Canora, SK. to work at the egg hatchery. While at a country dance, Adeline met her soulmate and "Sweetie", Metro Romanuik. They were married on July 16, 1949 at St. Andrews Church in Yorkton. Adeline cherished her husband and they spent 63 wonderful years together. They raised a family of three, Ken, Reg and Lori. Adeline and Metro were constant companions who did everything together - fishing, camping, bowling, gardening, golfing and travelling. Adeline was a member of the York Lake Ladies Golf Club. In 1957, Adeline and Metro moved to Yorkton where Adeline was employed with the Met store and later York-Sask Drycleaners as a seamstress until her retirement in 1981. After retirement, Adeline continued to sew and do alterations at home. Adeline was an avid gardener spending many hours in her beautiful perennial garden. When Adeline and Metro sold their home, Adeline shared her love of gardening with her family by giving her children and grandchildren perennials to plant in their own gardens. We are proud that her garden lives on. Another favorite pastime was quilting. Adeline has a keen eye for color and detail and every quilt she made was perfect and made with love. Adeline leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life her son Ken (Iris) and their children Mike Romanuik, Michelle (Kevin) Youmans and their children Emily and Lucas, Carie (Lane) Stockbrugger and their children Gabriella and Liam, daughter Lori (Brian) Shumay and their children Kristen Shumay and Lindsay Shumay, sisters Victoria Clifton, Isabelle (Eldon) Klotz and their family as well as numerous other family member and friends. Adeline was predeceased by her husband Metro, her son Reg, her parents Albin and Kate Kshanowski, her mother and father in law Fred and Ann Romanuik, sister Alvina Kozmech, brothers in law Fred Kozmech, Doug Clifton, Zenon Romanuik, John Romanuik, sisters in law Susan Chemuk, Ann Romanuik and Alice Romanuik, nephews Larry Kozmech and Myles Klotz. Adeline will be remembered by her family as a loving, caring and compassionate woman who put her family before herself. During her time she touched our hearts and souls. Her presence in our lives is a gift we will always be thankful for. No matter how old you are, losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can feel but her goodness, her caring and her wisdom will live on….a legacy of love that will always be with us.
