Obituary of Louis "Louie" Horvath

HORVATH - Louis Horvath, beloved husband of Evelyn (Alma) of Leross passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the All Nations healing Hospital in Fort Qu'Appelle. He was 92 years of age. Louis was born on June 16, 1921 at NW 12- 27A- 14- W2 on the home farm, a son to Joseph and Grace Horvath . He received his grade ten education at Leross School. Louis farmed on the land where he was born and acquired some other land as the years went by. He also raised cattle. Louis worked on the railroad extra gang for several winters. He was not drafted to the army as his father was in failing health, so he was left at home to help farm. On August 12, 1957 Louis was united in marriage to Evelyn (Alma) Hayward at the United Church in Kelliher. Louis was on the Wheat Pool Committee, the Credit Union Board and the Co-op Board. Louis had no hobbies, his only interest was his cattle and farm. He would go to the old house and tinker around with whatever he could find to do in there. Louis leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Evelyn (Alma) of Leross; son Myron (Sheryl) of Yorkton; daughter Kristine (Jason) Spate of Morse, SK; grandchildren Dave Townsend (Joey Lange), Amber Horvath (Hank Huber), Dawson Spate, Topanga Spate; great grandchildren Aleaha Townsend and Jean Huber; sisters Helen (Larry) Frey of Leross, Margaret Schmale of North Battleford and Jean Molter of Dundalk, ON; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families and his friends from over the years. The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the graveside at the Kelliher Memorial Gardens with Rev. Brian Mee of the United Church of Canada officiating. The urnbearer was Kris Spate. Memorials in Louie's name may be made to St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre in Lestock. The cremation and funeral care was entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
