Obituary of John Alexander Wagner

WAGNER - Mr. John Wagner, beloved husband of June of Yorkton, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 83 years of age. John Alexander Wagner was born on June 27, 1930 at Shellmouth, Manitoba; a son of Anna (nee Fritschel) and Jack Wagner. He was raised in the Shellmouth district and received his education there. John met the love of his life, June Werschler in 1955, and on June 19th, 1956 the couple was united in marriage. They purchased a farm near Roblin, MB and resided there until 1997, when they retired, sold the farm and moved to Yorkton. John loved to farm and did so for most of his life. Family was very important to John, he greatly enjoyed the visits of his children and grandchildren and took an active interest in the lives. He enjoyed going for coffee daily at the mall, visiting with friends, and gardening with June. As his health began to deteriorate, John became a resident of the Theodore Health Centre, where he had resided before being transferred to the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. With heavy hearts, we said good-bye to a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, on Sunday, May 18th 2014. He was 83 years of age. John was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Anna Wagner and brother in law Robert Zimmer. He will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, his wife June of 57 years, 11 months. Children: Raymond (Susan) Wagner from Winnipeg, MB; Clarence (Irene) Wagner from Oak Bank, MB; Darla (Lex) Langston from Brandon, MB; Larry (Pam) Wagner from Balgonie, SK; and Val (Ron) Mihalicz from Regina. Grandchildren : Jerod, Kelly Wagner, Derek (Tasha), Kurt, Kimberly Jory, Dayne, Daylan Wagner, Brooke (Jordan) Rensby, Braden (Shawna) Mihalicz. Great Grandchildren: Denver Jory, Leah Mihalicz and Landon Rensby. Sisters: Elizebeth Zimmer from Roblin, MB; Hertha (Adolf) Edel from Roblin, MB; Elsie (Edward) Zimmer from Russell, MB: Edna (Walter) Kroll from The Pas, MB. Brother Harold (Leona) from Edmonton, AB, numerous nieces, nephews and his many other relatives and friends. A service of comfort was held on Thursday evening, May 22, 2014 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Friday, May 23, 2014 from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorkton with Rev. Fred Schneider officiating., and Mr. Ray Yost assisting. Grandson Derek Jory gave the eulogy. Organist, Carla Laycock, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Softly &Tenderly, Jesus is Calling', 'Let Me Go', 'Just As I Am', and 'Lord, Take My Hand and Lead Me'. Ray Yost sang the solo 'How Great Thou Art'. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Mark with Jerrod, Kelly, Dayne & Dylan Wagner, Braden Mihalicz & Jordan Rensby serving as the casketbearers.
