She was raised on the family farm and attended Deer Creek School. The family moved to the Parkerview district where she helped her parents with the farming. For a short time she was employed at the Zwozdesky farm and earned $6.00/month. She also worked for the Bilakrely's where she earned $8.00 a month. The monies that she earned was not her's to keep but was handed back to her Dad to buy essentials for the rest of the family. On Oct 18, 1936 at the age of 19 she married Mike Kwasnitza. They continued to farm and raise their family in the Parkerview district.
