Obituary of Leif Sorensen

A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". Leif Sorensen was born on December 22, 1929 in Aalborg, Denmark. He was the foster child of Jen and Ane Nielsen. With suitcase in hand and $25.00 in his pocket he left Denmark in April 1949 at the age of 19 destined for Canada. He worked his way around the country as a farm hand before being hired on with Sask. Power in 1951. After many dedicated years Leif retired in Melville in 1984. On October 17, 1953 Leif married his "sweetheart" Clementine Revet in Nipawin, Sask. His new life was truly beginning. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, curling, camping and watching most sports especially hockey. Nothing better than his Toronto Maple Leafs except for maybe whatever team his grandson Kelvin played on. He was a dedicated family man and took great pleasure in being involved in all activities of his children and grandchildren. "Santa" will be missed greatly. Leif passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville, with family by his side on April 22, 2014 after a courageous 6 month battle with cancer. Leif was 84 years young. Predeceased by an infant daughter Valerie, sons Vernon and Kevin, parents (Jen and Ane Nielsen), mother and father-in-law (Marie Anne and Gaston Revet), brothers-in-law (Harold Andersen, Aage Larsen, John Osaduik and Alex McGillis). Leif leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory his loving wife of 60 years, Clementine his son Wayne (Ruth) and their children, Ryan (Lindsay), Travis (Rebecca), Arron (Brittany) his son Erik (Charlotte) and their children Desmond (Jessica), Christopher, Adam, Lisa his daughter Leiflynn (Dwaine) and their children Sepreina, Kelvin (Kaelyn), his great grandchildren Karson, McKenna, Mason, Landon, Dre, Kaylee and Jaida sisters Esther Larsen, Lis Andersen, numerous other family members both in Canada and Denmark, and many precious friends.
