Adolph Schick was born on September 4, 1926 in the Waldron district of Saskatchewan; a son of Katherine (nee Augustine) and Fred Schick. He was raised on the farm and received his education in the district. As a young man Adolph remained on the farm and on July 11, 1948 was united in marriage to Iris Schmidt at Melville. Following their marriage, the couple worked for a number of farmers in eastern Saskatchewan, namely in the Kipling, Stornoway, Birmingham and Grayson districts. The family then lived for a time in Melville, where Adolph worked at a local lumber yard before moving to Moose Jaw in 1956, where he was employed at a local bakery. In 1964 the family moved to the Springside district, where Adolph would farm for the next 20 years. The couple retired from the farm in 1984, and moved into Yorkton. Not one to sit idle, Adolph for many years worked for farmers in the district until his full retirement. In later years, Adolph and Iris became residents of Victoria Court. They enjoyed the eight years there, re-acquainting with old friends and establishing new friendships with fellow residents. Adolph's health had been in decline this past year and he had been hospitalized for the past couple of months. He passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
