Obituary of Keith Warburton

Mr. Keith Warburton of Yorkton, beloved husband of Pat passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on February 24, 2014 with family at his side. He was 78 years of age. Keith was born on June 22, 1935 in Tywyn, Merionesthshire - Wales to Arthur and Mary Dwinwen (Polly) Warburton. He received his education in Tywyn Schools and upon completion entered compulsory service in the Royal Army Medical Corps. While in the Army, Keith travelled the Suez Canal en route to Japan where he was stationed at the tail end of the Korean War. Following discharge from the army, he remained a reservist for the following five years. He found employment at the North Wales Hospital where he worked in the purchasing department. He was very involved with activities at the hospital with organizing trips for the patients and helping to organize cricket and soccer teams for both patients and staff. He also played cricket and coached soccer during his years there. The friendships established at this time remain strong today. In 1967 Keith was united in marriage to Patricia Pearce. This union was blessed with three children, Martyn, Kathryn and Peter. In 1975 Keith and Pat emigrated to Yorkton where Keith first worked as an orderly on the Prairie Unit at the Yorkton Union Hospital. He then worked in the Laboratory for many years as an orderly/morgue attendant. He was the only male on staff for many years and enjoyed working with all the "lab girls". He retired in 1999. Keith loved to travel. The family made many road trips over the years in addition to trips to Ireland, France and Cyprus. He made many trips back to Wales to visit family and friends. Keith was an active sports fan. His love of soccer was well known and he was a fierce supporter of Everton FC. He was also a very loyal Yorkton Terriers fan. Keith was predeceased by his parents, 2 step brothers and his beloved son Martyn. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Patricia, daughter Kathryn, son Peter, daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandson James and brother Adrian and his family. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant officiating. Reflections and remembrance of Keith's life were shared by Kathryn Warburton. "Everyone who was touched by Keith's life" were included as honorary pallbearers. The interment took place in the family plot in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Peter Warburton serving as the urn bearer. Memorials honouring Keith's life may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association as gifts of remembrance.
