KLINGSPON - Norman Klingspon beloved husband of Hertha Klingspon of Yorkton passed away on February 21, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional health Centre. He was seventy six years of age. Norman Klingspon (and twin brother Allen) were born on February 5, 1938 in Edmonton Alberta; son of Herman and Teofilia (nee Klingsphon) Klingspon. Norm and his family of 8 siblings and parents resided on the family farm in New Serepta, AB where he attended the Maple Hill School. At the age of 15 he moved to Edmonton to find work. His first job was pulling stumps out of the fields for .25 cents an hour. From there he went on to work for the City of Edmonton. His love of travel and adventure took him to Tuktoyaktuk, NT where he fulfilled his love of cooking for the work camps. It was during this time on one of his flights back home that he was introduced to Hertha Tillman at the Christian book store where she was employed. It was here that their journey of love began. They were married shortly after that on September 1, 1962 in Springside, SK. In 1964 they moved to Swift Current, SK where they purchased their first brand new family home. Daughter, Renae came into the family in 1965 and son, Des a year later in 1966. From there the family moved to Sherwood Park where son, Greg was born in 1970. In 1973 daughter, Tammy was welcomed to the family at the age of 4. The family was then complete. In the spring of 1974 they made the move from Sherwood Park, AB to Yorkton, SK. In 1976 they purchased farm west of Otthon. Norm was then employed at the Yorkton Union Hospital in 1974 and worked there for 22 and a half years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed his work and the many special relationships with his fellow employees. In 1985 they purchased the Yorkton Golden Rule Christian book store. After Norm's retirement it was commonplace to see him there with a smile and a friendly welcome to all their customers. In 2000 they sold the store at which time they began their years of volunteer work with the Soup Haven and various mission trips which included Mexico and Cambodia. They also had special trips with family to Hawaii, and many other excursions throughout Canada and the US. In 2010 they sold the family farm and moved into Yorkton living out the rest of his years gardening, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Norm and Hertha celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September 2012. Norm's life revolved around God, family, church, prayer and the bible. He was a very soft spoken, kind hearted man of simple pleasures. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Teofilia Klingspon; two sisters, Erna and Frieda; sister in-law, Gale Klingspon; two brothers-in law, Tony Shykowski and Fred Washalycia; one niece, Linda Fraser and a great-nephew, Daniel Rosenberg. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his loving wife, Hertha; daughter, Renae (Richard) Miller and their children, Trevor (friend Shelby) and Shalayne (friend Craig); son, Des (Cheryl) and their children, Jeremy (Jadah & great grandson Zane), Joel (friend Paige) and Taylor; Daughter, Tammy and her daughter, Desiree (step great granddaughter, Electra); Son, Greg (Sheri) and their children, Travis, Meagan, Brayden; four brothers, Art (Rose) of BC, Walter (Irene) of Alberta, Allen (Vicky) of Alberta, Harvey of Alberta; two sisters, Hanna of BC and Violet (Ted) of Alberta; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
