Obituary of Edwin Krewda

Edwin Malcolm Krewda of Yorkton, passed away at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home on February 16, 2014. He was 79 years of age. Edwin was born November 15, 1934 at Melville, SK to Peter and Caroline (nee Matysio) Krewda. The family farmed near Parkerview where Edwin learned through hard work, the skills to make the most of anything he had, cultivating a creative an inventive mind. He would wander off alone to teach himself to play the violin which became the source of much enjoyment for family and friends who would accompany him at many gatherings. Before he was of age to join the Army, he worked on the rail road, then took his military training at Camp Borden, ONT. He loved driving the military motorcycles and had Harleys and motorbikes through the years. While on a visit home, he met Elizabeth Kish and after his return to base, he sent her letters every day until she joined him in Ontario where they were soon married. When Audrey was born in Barrie, they returned only a few days later to farm for a time at Lestock, SK. Lorraine and Neil were then added to the family as Edwin worked at various jobs and farmed. After welding and machining at Raymore for Degelman's, the opportunity came to work during construction of K2 mine at Esterhazy. In 1967 he joined production at K2 then owned by IMC, and moved his family to Yarbo. Ivadelle was a little one when Maxwell completed the family. Aside from his job, Edwin always made time to weld for various farmers and repair furnaces during the night for distressed friends. He enjoyed taking his family camping all over Saskatchewan and Manitoba and later making trips to Alberta as family lived there. After retiring, Edwin and Elizabeth moved to Yorkton where they relished entertaining friends and relatives, playing music and serving tasty treats till the wee hours. Edwin leaves to cherish his memory his wife Elizabeth; children Audrey; Amanda, Layne & Golden, Lorraine; Greg (Katherine), Darsey (Jennifer), Neil (Patti); David (Pam) and Kristen (Paul) Platt, Jessie, and Taylor, Ivadelle (Rick Kovacs); Erica, Maxwell (Lisa); Meagan, Danielle, 2 great grandchildren Alexandra Laluk and Kyle Platt; sister Lovella Schmidt and brother Melvin as well as numerous extended family members.
