Obituary of Cecilia Mary Cook
COOK - Cecilia Cook of St. Paul Lutheran Home, Melville and formerly of Broadview entered her eternal rest, peacefully on February 3rd 2014 at the age of 98 years. Cecilia was born November 17, 1915 in St Gregor, SK, daughter to Martin and Christina (nee Meschishnick) Plemel. After competing high school at St. Ursula's Academy in Bruno, she trained as an RN at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Humboldt. She worked in Rosthern, Macklin and Broadview where she met her husband Harry Cook. They were married in 1941 and had 4 sons. They lived in Brandon for a short time and then moved to Broadview where she remained until 1999. She was an active member of St Mary's RC Parish and served as treasurer of the Altar Society. She was also the treasurer of the New Horizons Club. After her sons were born she worked very little as a nurse, spending her time raising her children. She enjoyed travelling, once to Europe, also to Alaska and many other locations including many trips to Las Vegas with her sister Dorothy and bother-in-law Ray. She had a large garden full of vegetables, fruit trees and especially flowers. Fortunately she had 4 sons to do all the weeding. In 1999 she moved to St. Volodymyr's Villa in Saskatoon where she made many new friends. She lived there for 13 years. Her final year and a half was spent at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville. Cecilia is survived by her children Charles, Tom (Margaret), John (Sylvia) and Cliff plus her 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, her siblings Agnes, Dorothy, Martin (Marie). She was predeceased by her husband Harry (1982), parents Martin and Christina Plemel, 2 sisters; Sr. Veronica and Rose and by 6 brothers; Alois, Conrad, Andrew, John, Leo and Carl, daughter-in-law Janice and 1 grandchild Lucas, at birth.
