Obituary of Henry Broda

BRODA - Andrew Henry Broda of Melville, Saskatchewan entered his eternal rest peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Henry was born on August 26th, 1924 in the Killaly district of Saskatchewan, the sixth child of Katherine (Englot) and William Broda. He received his education at Wymer School. He quit school at the age of 16 to help on the family farm. On July 22nd, 1947, Henry married the love of his life, Cecilia Sophie Hickie and they started farming on the family homestead. While living on the farm, during the summertime, Henry also worked on various construction highway crews. In 1965, the family purchased a home and moved to Melville where Henry was employed at Producers Feed Mill for 7 years. Following that he began delivering fuel for the Co-op, which he continued to do until his retirement in 1987. During this time his valued customers also became valued friends with whom he would often share a cup of coffee and piece of pie. Henry has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, the Melville Fish and Game Association, Ducks Unlimited and the Melville Millionaires hockey club. In his retirement years Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing and joy riding with his ATV. He especially enjoyed spending time at his hunting cabin at Reserve, Sask. and continued to do so up until his passing. When he wasn't busy going to auction sales he could always be found at the A&W having coffee with the "gang". Anyone that knew Henry and his great sense of humor also knew he was particularly good at making a "short story long". He never told anything but a true story!!! "I kid you not". Two of the most important things in Henry's life were his faith and his family. He is predeceased by his wife Cecilia, his parents, sisters, Jenny Balaberda, Anne Cameron and his brothers, Anthony, Mike and John. He was also predeceased by an infant brother William. Henry leaves to cherish his memory his six children; Elaine (Brian) Kranson of Edmonton and daughter Shannon (Wade) Beisiegel and their children Abby & Cole of Langley, BC; Barry (Annette) of Crooked Lake and their children Jennifer and Tyler (Amber) Broda of Edmonton; Tim of Melville; Constance Molnar of Saskatoon and son Madison (Andrea) Molnar and daughter Cassadee of Yorkton; Carol (Lloyd) Waldbauer and their sons Jeremy (Michelle) and children Carson and Quinn, Shane (Mandi) and their daughters Emma, Sami and Zoe, Tyson, and Jordan all of Edmonton; Mike (Denise)of Assiniboia, and one brother Joe (Theresa) of Melville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
