Obituary of Patrick Victor Konechny

Pat Konechny was born on March 27, 1954 and raised in Melville, SK. He attended both St. Henry's and Melville Comprehensive schools. He held a variety of occupations through the course of his working career including Paramedic and SIAST Instructor for EMT courses. After retiring from SIAST, Pat moved to Melville and was self employed as a handyman. There was nothing Pat would not do for his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a hand or offer an encouraging word and was a devoted friend. Pat was content and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved golf and spent as much time on the course with friends as possible. He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed the challenge of fixing mechanical problems when they arose. In fact, Pat was a Mr. Fix-It - when he saw a problem, he could figure out how to fix almost anything and had taught himself dry-walling, plumbing, and electrical work, among other things. He enjoyed music, particularly from the 1960s and 1970s, and listened to it constantly at home and while he worked. Pat also loved travelling, had visited many countries, and was looking forward to seeing more. During his travels, his keen eye for photography became clear as he captured many memories of the people he met and the places he visited. Pat passed away at the age of 59 on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Regina General Hospital with his family and friends by his side. He was predeceased by his father, Victor Konechny, in 1983. Pat touched many people's lives and will be deeply missed. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mary of Melville, his brothers, Norm (Cindy) of Melville and Barry of Saskatoon and sister, Betty-Ann of Melville, his girlfriend, Kathy Sutherland of Regina, his nieces, Tamara Lakusta (Dwayne) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Shona Rhinas (Jesse) of Melville, Dana Vasileff (Calvin) of Spruce Grove, AB and Melissa Pifko of Red Deer, AB, great nieces and nephews Kamryn, Brady, Zachren, Nathan, Kayden, Myann, Hailen, and aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as people Pat considered as family - Alfred and Sheila Tuba of Melville, Wade, Sheritee and Ethan Tuba of Regina, Lynnette, Joe, Blaine and Collin Denesiuk of Melville; John, Desiree, JJ, Adam and Justin Seitz of Regina; as well numerous friends.
