A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". LARSON - Cliff was born to Allan and Dora (nee Shewchuk) Larson on October 18th, 1937 at the Hans Aamodt farm in the Eastward district. He received his education at Eastward School, and told of skiing to school in winter with his .22 rifle and stashing it in the bush so he could hunt grouse and rabbits on his way home for his Mother to cook for supper. In summer he spent many an hour on his faithful pony Shorty, being able to shoot muskrats from Shorty's back. As a young man Clifford worked various jobs in Alberta and BC until returning to work for John Swenson as night operator running caterpillar clearing bush. Having gained some experience doing bushwork in the area, Cliff decided to venture out on his own and recalls one of his proudest moments being the day in 1964 when his brand new D6 cat arrived. He owned and operated C.N. Larson Construction and combined this business with farming for many years. He married Tess Kowalchuck, Foam Lake, Sask in 1961 (later divorced) and to this union, four children were born: Kim, Laurel, Kris & C. Douglas. In 1982, Cliff married Elizabeth (Beth) Carter and together built a life working, fishing, taking many trips to Fishing Lake and north to Lac La Ronge. They loved to travel and enjoyed winters in Hawaii until Beth's passing in 2009. Cliff was once a member of the Masonic Lodge and was active in the community with various sporting groups and local government. As a young man he played and coached hockey, skied when possible and curled for many years, having learned at a young age while helping his father maintain the curling ice at Eastward. An avid Riders fan, he held season tickets and attended many a game. Unfortunately, his health kept him home from the 2013 season and great Rider Grey Cup win. He and special friend, Elsie Kayter, enjoyed the games cheering on the Riders, from the comfort of the living room! In later years, Cliff learned to golf and became an active member of the Kelliher Golf Course. Upon retirement, Cliff was active in Community politics and served as both Councilor and Mayor for the Village of Kelliher. His many accomplishments in those years include the Recycle plant that opened in 2007 and currently operates today. He passed away suddenly at his home in Kelliher on Sunday, January 5, 2014. He was 76 years of age. Clifford was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Dora and his wife Elizabeth. He is survived by his four children: Kim (Dave) Christman (Antelope, MT), Laurel (Keith) Clawson (Plentywood, MT), Kris (Chrissy) Larson (Pincher Creek, AB), & C. Douglas (Vicki Golby) Larson (Alliance, AB). Beth's children: Bruce (Angie) Simpson (Calgary, AB), & Lorri (Murray Swan) Simpson, Kelowna, BC. Grandchildren: Karie (Justin Obritsch). Joel Kanning (Justin Cote), Jill (Kris) Young, Kirstin (Joshua) Ming. Crystal (Brock) Maus, Kaela (Dan) Carpenter, Bridget Clawson, Jenna Clawson, Thomas Clawson.
