Mrs. Julia Yaworsky of Yorkton, formerly of Canora, widow of John Yaworsky, passed away on November 9, 2013. Julia Anne Yaworsky (Trach) was born on April 3, 1918 to Mary (Wilgosh) and Nick Trach in the Mikado district. Julia attended Bogucz School from Grade 1 to 8. After finishing school she stayed home to help with the farming chores such as milking cows, feeding chickens and pigs, haying, stooking at harvest time and other chores as needed. On October 13, 1940 Julia married John Yaworsky at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church on the farm by Mikado. On March 19, 1943 their first child Jimmy was stillborn. Then on December 14, 1953, their second child Danny was born. He died soon after birth. Julia and John farmed in a number of places in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, then after several years of farming they decided to take a leave from the farmland and moved to Winnipeg where they both got jobs, Julia as a seamstress in a leather factory. Time for retirement, John and Julia returned to Saskatchewan and built a new home in Canora. During her retirement, Julia now had time to do what she enjoyed doing - embroidery, crocheting, tending to her flowers, and most of all cross stitching. She cross stitched many pictures and runners. On December 10, 1966, Julia's sister Nellie, and brother-in-law Joe Ostafie, were killed in a car accident leaving behind their children Ludwig and Darlene. Upon Ludwig's release from the hospital after the accident, John and Julia volunteered to take him home and look after him, which they did for the next 24 years until Ludwig died in 1990. Julia was an active member of St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League for 58 years during which time she held many positions including President for a few years. She received her 50 year UCWL pin in 2005.
