Ivy was born to Elis and Dorothy Lindgren on September 2, 1944, at Wadena Hospital. Ivy grew up on the family farm and attended school in Wadena/Kuroki until she moved to Saskatoon where she worked for two years at Intercontinental Packers, while living with her sister and brother-in-law. It was here in Saskatoon that Ivy met the love of her life Ernest Junior Sasyniuk and they married on September 27, 1963.
