Obituary of Gertrude Elizabeth Freestone
FREESTONE - Gertrude Freestone of Melville, Saskatchewan known to family and friends as "Gert" passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville. She was 86 years. Gert was born on January 1, 1927 at Lipton, Saskatchewan a daughter to Catherine (nee Sastaunik) and Reinhold Banick. In 1943 Gert and her family moved to Melville. On October 27, 1948 Gert was united in marriage to David Freestone. Gert started her employment with Saskatchewan Co-op Creamery on February 1st, 1945 and continued to be employed there until the closer on December 31st, 1977. On May 1st, 1979 she began working for Motter's Plumbing and heating and retired in 1994. Predeceased by her husband David on September 9, 2000, brother Floyd in 2007, sister Eleanor in 2001, brother-in-law Bill in 2008, mother Catherine in 1990 and her father Reinhold in 1969. Gert leaves to cherish her memory her brother Chris (Carol) of Calgary, sister-in-law Elsie, nephews Tim, Steven and Glen and their family, nieces Cheryl, Janet, Donna and Sheila and their family, aunts Gert Tank and Frieda Sastaunik both of Regina. The funeral was held on Friday, August 23, 2013 from the Bethany Evangelical Church in Melville with Pastor Rick Gibson Officiating. Arrangements were by Bailey's Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Melville. Service Information
